What a great game by two teams vying for a playoff berth. The game was back and forth to the end. Half way through the third period, Campbell River went up 7 to 5 and Westside scores to make it 7 to 6. With one minute left in the game, Westside pulls the goalie for the extra attacker and Campbell River scores on an open net to make it 8 to 6. With 30 second left, Westside responds with a goal to make it 8 to 7 but it was not enough. Scoring for Westside was Tyler Love, Evan Wilkinson, Brody Jennings, Sam Dubbledam, Cole deJonge and Jessie Mills who had two goals and scored Westside's last goal at the 30 minute mark of the third. Campbell River was lead offensively by Brady McInnes who had an outstanding game with five goals. Gavin Rauser contributed two goals and Tyson Goebel one. The 2012 Bantam Tier 2 BC Hockey Championship could not have had a more thrilling final between two hardworking, skilled and evenly matched teams. This game was scoreless until the mid point of the third period when BWC's Alexander Rasovic (assist to Jake Kryski and Devan Purhar) scored to put them up by one. At 5:43 of the third, Campbell River defenseman Joe Gage made a spralling play to keep the puck inside the offensive zone allowing Grady McInnes (assist to Travis Goodwin and Joe Gage) to put one past the BWC keeper forcing overtime. Just 33 seconds into the overtime period, Josh Coblenz (assist to Joe Gage) scored to win the Championship. This was a low scoring game and the goaltending by Nicholas Kirchner (Campbell River) and Sheldon Stanley (BWC) was just outstanding. Congratulations to both teams for the most exciting game to watch.
