Coaching - Course Options

NCCP COACH COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR

2007-2008 COACH EDUCATION

 

All courses listed below are entry-level courses, therefore do not require prerequisites.  Entrance into the course is determined by the age of the coach (minimum of 16 yrs.) and competitive level of the athlete that the coach is currently coaching.  Choices listed below need to be considered by each Minor Hockey Association, based on the needs of the community.

leadership positions in

All BC Hockey MHAs and non-Hockey Canada carded Female teams are to ensure that all coaches are Coach Stream “qualified” by December 31 of the current season

All BC Hockey / Hockey Canada carded coaches must be

“qualified” at the Develop-mental 1 Stream to coach Minor, Female

and Junior

Hockey by December 31 of the current

season

 

Notes:

Completion of the Coach Stream Post Task workbook (Verification Form from MHA) is necessary to gain Coach Stream Certification.  Completion of the Developmental 1 Post Task Workbook (submitted to BC Hockey) is necessary for Developmental 1 Certification and is considered a prerequisite for Developmental 2 seminars.

 

Recommended Extension(s): Coach Stream is a 1.5-day program. It is recommends that the BC Hockey Checking Clinic for Coaches (4 hours) be added to the afternoon of the second day. Delegates attending the Introduction to Coaching / Coach Stream Hybrid must remain for the entire program as both courses are entwined during presentation. Delegates should also consult their local MHA and District regulations regarding additional requirements to coach. All coaches regardless of their level of coaching must also complete a Speak Out! Seminar.

 

High Performance Stream is offered every two years for advanced coaches.
