BC Hockey athletes have the opportunity to try-out for and represent their province, region or country in various national and international competitions throughout their career.
Hockey Canada
Hockey Canada governs amateur hockey throughout Canada. Hockey Canada works with the 13 Branch Associations, the Canadian Hockey League and the Canadian Inter-University Sports to facilitate hockey programs across the country. The organization also facilitates national teams for international competition.
Team BC – Canada Winter Games
The Canada Winter Games occur every four years. BC Hockey High Performance Athletes are selected to represent our province. Both a female and male Team BC are assembled to compete at the Games.
Male Team BC is selected through the BC Hockey Male Under 17 High Performance Program. The female team is selected through the BC Hockey Female Under 18 High Performance Program.
The 2007 Canada Winter Games will be held in Whitehorse, Yukon from February 24 to March 10.
Olympics
As a member of Hockey Canada, BC Hockey members have the opportunity to one day participate at the Olympic Games.
International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF)
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) was founded in 1908 and is the world governing body for ice and inline hockey. They partner with national organizations such as Hockey Canada to help make international competition possible.
