Minor Hockey describes amateur hockey played by athletes 20 years old and younger. Players are generally divided into playing levels according to age. The main levels and associated ages are:
- Pre-Novice – 5 & 6
- Novice – 7 & 8
- Atom – 9 & 10
- Pee Wee – 11 & 12
- Bantam – 13 & 14
- Midget – 15-17
- Juvenile – 18 & 19
For additional information about enrolling in a minor hockey program, please contact your local Minor Hockey Association. If you are unsure about which minor hockey association to contact, please contact your area’s District Director.
Championships are held annually for Pee Wee, Bantam, Midget and Juvenile teams. Individual teams participating in each championship are district winners.
BC Hockey also administers a number of youth programs throughout the hockey season. Minor recreational programs are programs aimed at minor hockey players that are in addition to their regular teams and practices. Some of these programs are aimed at athletes new to the game. Others are intended for those already involved in hockey and can promote fun, skill development or both. Some minor recreation events are:

Apply now for a chance to meet WHL game officials. Those deserving young officials selected will have the opportunity to be exposed to WHL officials and give thema behind-the-scenes look into what it is like at the WHL level. Four (4) officials will also be selected dress in their full officiating gear to join the WHL game officials for a pre-game lap of the ice and 'Stand on Guard' with them during the national anthem.
