Thursday, June 28, 2012

BC Hockey announced June 28, 2012 the rosters and schedule for the 2012 Male U16 Provincial Camp that will be hosted in Salmon Arm, BC at the Shaw Centre from July 18-22, 2012.

"The entire Team BC staff is excited to begin the next stage in development of our team for the 2012 U16 Western Canada Challenge Cup,” said Team BC head coach Ryan Weber.  “Judging by the group of players that have been selected for this summer's provincial camp, not only will this team be highly skilled but every deep at each position. We're excited to get things started, but know that we have some difficult decisions ahead of us."

“As the Provincial Male High Performance Coordinator, I am always excited to watch a group of players work as hard as these did and now move on to Provincial Camp in Salmon Arm in July 2012,” commented BC Hockey Male High Performance Branch Coordinator Russ Weber.  “Looking forward to the U16 Western Canada Challenge Cup in November 2012 we should be very well represented by group of talented BC hockey players”

Some notable players that have participated in the Male U16 BC Cup include:
  • Brent Seabrook – Chicago Blackhawks – Team Greater Vancouver
  • Brandon McMillan – Anaheim Ducks – Team Fraser River/Delta
  • Brett Connolly – Tampa Bay Lightning – Team North East

The Male Under 16 Program was designed by BC Hockey to instruct and prepare High Performance players for future opportunities in the BC Hockey High Performance Program. Open Region Camps are held in March for players 15 years or younger. From each Region players are selected to compete in a jamboree style U16 BC Cup. A jamboree style tournament is when the players selected from each Region are mixed together to form the 8 teams.
