BC Hockey is pleased to announce that North West Giants goaltender Martin Jones has been named the BC Hockey Major Midget League Player of the Month for December.
Jones has been consistent in net throughout the season and December was no different. He won three of three games, stopped 84 of 88 shots and registered a shutout. Jones was also one of four netminders selected to appear in the BC Hockey Major Midget League All-Star Game on January 1.
The 15-year-old Jones has adjusted well to playing midget hockey. Last year, he started four of every five games as a bantam with North Shore Winter Club. He has fit in well with the team and he and fellow goalie Graeme Gordon have formed a strong friendship.
“His attitude has been terrific right from the beginning of the season. He works diligently in practice and supports his teammates enthusiastically as the Giants strive to forge an improved record during the league’s second season,” stated North West Giants’ head coach Grant Kerr.
The BC Hockey Major Midget League Player of the Month is sponsored by CCM / Reebok. Recipients of this award will receive a special gift from CCM/Reebok.
