If a camp is not scheduled in a zone, players will be allowed to attend a camp in another zone.
The U14 program will be developmental in nature, no teams will be selected. The specific goals of the program are:
To introduce young female athletes to the High Performance Program, specifically in the areas of on-ice skill development and off-ice training using age and developmentally appropriate materials and strategies.
To provide a learning environment that is fun and challenging, one that will inspire the athletes to continue in the High Performance Program and prepare them for future challenges at the U16 and U18 levels.
To continue to support the athlete throughout the year by providing updated information on the BC Hockey web site in the areas noted above that will be valuable to the athletes, their parents and their club team coaches.
To identify and develop hockey leaders and future high performance staff members in the local community by providing opportunities to participate in camp delivery.
To continually review the program by keeping current with the most up to date materials and information that will allow for continual growth and development.
To bridge the gap between development strategies and commitment in the High Performance Program and the various club team programs.
The Female U14 High Performance Training Camp is a weekend camp where athletes will learn skills and strategies to prepare them for the upcoming hockey season. Included will be fitness information and testing, a parent seminar and on-ice skill development.
The BC Hockey Female Design Model adopted in 2007, identified the need to introduce female athletes at this age level to areas of on-ice skill development and off-ice training, allowing them to be successful regardless of the path they choose in hockey.
