2012 Summer Officiating Schools
Friday, August 03, 2012

Two (2) BC Hockey Summer Officiating Schools are set to begin Monday, August 6, 2012. The schedules for the 2012 Summer Officiating Schools, which are taking place in Lake Cowichan and Osoyoos, BC, have been released and can be located at:

This year, the Osoyoos School has attracted over 50 students while the Lake Cowichan school will see 47 attend. In many cases the students have been selected because of their outstanding commitment last season and awarded attendance at the Summer Officiating School by their Minor Hockey Association.

The Summer Officiating Schools are operated under the direction of key individuals from the BC Hockey Referee program. Stephanne Rainville (Courtenay) will lead the Osoyoos school while Jordan Davis (Brentwood Bay) is at the helm of the Lake Cowichan School.

The schools offer an excellent preparation for the coming season. The curriculum is tailored to meet the various needs of officials, from those preparing to officiate upper levels of competitive hockey to the recreational official, possibly new to the game, wishing to learn basic instruction in a less formal atmosphere. The school are devoted entirely to the Hockey Canada Officiating Program material. A certification exam is written on the final day.
