BC Hockey is pleased to announce the selection of officials for the 2012 Women’s Under 18 National Championship which is taking place November 7-11, 2012 in Dawson Creek, BC. The officials are:
Kayla Keeping – Referee
Cyndie Rice – Linesman
Adrienne Beacom – Linesman
Referee Kayla Keeping, 22, (Kamloops, BC) has completed her Officiating Level Four (4) and has over six (6) years refereeing experience. This will be her second year officiating the U18 National Championship and has also worked the Canada Winter Games and ESSO nationals and the finals of the Female Major Midget AAA League (FMAAA) in previous years. She currently works Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Hockey and plays for the Kamloops Vibe.
Linesman Cyndie Rice, 23, (Invermere, BC) has over three (3) years officiating experience and has completed her Officiating Level Three (3). She is currently the only female official in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League and worked the 2011-2012 play offs. Rice also worked the Gold medal game at the BC Winter Games in Vernon last year.
Linesman Adrienne Beacon, 22, (Kamloops, BC) has completed her Officiating Level Three (3) and has over seven (7) years officiating experience. She works CIS, FMAAA and minor hockey and is a full time nursing student with a part time job.
The National Women’s Under 18 Championship brings together all-star teams made up of the best female hockey players born 1992 or later. The tournament serves as an important platform for Hockey Canada scouts, led by head scout of the Women’s National Teams Programs, Melody Davidson, who are evaluating candidates for the Canadian contingent that will compete at the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship next January in Vierumaki, Finland, as well as at other international events.
