Arsenault has an extensive hockey background serving various roles including time as a coach, scout and administrator for nearly 30 years. Currently living in Kamloops BC, Brent has been involved in hockey at many different levels including minor hockey, Junior A, Major Junior and the Canadian National Men’s Team. Arsenault earned a silver medal as an assistant coach with Team Pacific at the 2002 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Manitoba and helped Team BC win a gold medal at the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax as an assistant coach.
Arsenault has had a focus on education throughout his career, earning degrees from St. Francis Xavier University, a diploma in High Performance Coaching from the National Coaching Institute and a Masters’ Degree in Leadership and Administration from Gonzaga University. Arsenault served as the Western Hockey League (WHL) Prince George Cougars’ education advisor and assistant coach from 2007-2016.
“We are pleased to add Brent as our Male POE Coordinator,” said BC Hockey Chief Executive Officer Barry Petrachenko. “His diverse background in both hockey and education will ensure the continued success of our program.”
"I am excited to work with BC Hockey again and give back to a program that I have been involved with in the past,” said Arsenault. “I am looking forward to working with a team of talented and dedicated individuals who are involved with this program."
The BC Hockey Male POE exposes players, coaches and officials to short term competition. Through player development, identification, inclusion, information translation and progression, athletes are prepared for the next stage. The BC Hockey Male POE acts as a precursor to the Hockey Canada POE, which is used to identify and train players and team personnel for regional and national teams.
