BC Hockey to Celebrate 100th Anniversary
Wednesday, February 14, 2018

On February 9, 1919 the British Columbia Amateur Hockey Association (now BC Hockey) was established at a meeting at The Province newspaper building in Vancouver. Starting today until February 9, 2019, BC Hockey will celebrate its 100th Anniversary and the rich history of hockey in BC and the Yukon.

Hockey has been an integral part of the fabric for many people along Canada’s west coast and so many key people, events and moments have taken place in BC and the Yukon. BC Hockey plans to recognize and celebrate our past all while looking forward to grow the game at the grassroots level.

“Hockey continues to be woven into the fabric of life in BC and the Yukon”, said BC Hockey Chief Executive Officer Barry Petrachenko. “So many great people and moments have contributed shaping our history and identity.  It is a privilege to be able to celebrate the volunteers throughout BC and the Yukon who help make our game great and who work so hard to ensure that we build upon our rich history.”
