The following Female Midget AAA (FMAAA) players have committed to play hockey at Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) and Alberta College Athletic Conference (ACAC) schools:

 

 

Byer, a 5’11” blue liner from Williams Lake, BC, has been a solid stay-at-home defenseman throughout her three (3) year FMAAA career. Through 78 games played, Byer has tallied 10 goals and 13 assists for a total of 23 points. Next season she’ll head to Calgary to suit up for the Mount Royal Cougars, joining former Northern teammate Chantelle Beadman-Rolph.

 

Chiu, a 5’4” forward and Team BC alumnus, has 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists) in 23 games so far with the Comets. Next season she will stay in her hometown of Vancouver to join the UBC Thunderbirds, who are currently first in the CIS’ Canada West conference with a 15-7-2 record.

Fletcher, a 5’9” forward from Vernon, has scored 21 points (17 goals, 4 assists) in 24 games so far this season with the Lakers. She will head to Vancouver to join the UBC Thunderbirds, a strong Canada West Athletic Conference program.

Hartland, a 5'10" netminder from Kaslo, has been a member of the Kootenay squad for two (2) seasons. She will join a new Olds College team that just started play in the 2014-2015 season.

Johnson, a 5’6” defenseman from Burnaby, has been a steady presence on the blue line for the Comets. She is second in the FMAAA program in scoring for defenseman, with 15 points (6 goals, 9 assists) in 24 games. She will join Toronto’s Ryerson University Rams, who play in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) conference.

 

Joseph, a 5’4” defenseman, is from Chilliwack. She’s scored a total of five (5) goals and nine (9) assists in three (3) FMAAA seasons. She will join the Olds College Broncos, an ACAC program that just started a women’s hockey program last season.

 

Mosher, a dynamic 5’8” forward from Chetwynd, has scored 47 points (24 goals, 23 assists) in three (3) FMAAA seasons. Mosher will move to North Bay, Ontario to attend Nipissing University, where she will join the Lakers. Former Northern teammate Ava Keis is currently a first-year player on the Lakers, whose head coach is former National Hockey League (NHL) player Darren Turcotte.

 

Pakozdy, a 5’5” Port Coquitlam native, has maintained nearly a point-per-game average over her three (3) year FMAAA career, tallying 80 points (45 goals, 35 assists) in 86 games. Pakozdy will join Toronto’s Ryerson University Rams, who play in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) conference.

 

Pollock, a 5’7” forward from Surrey, has scored 45 points (26 goals, 19 assists) in 87 career FMAAA games. She will join Calgary’s Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) Trojans, who are currently third in the ACAC league with an 8-6-7 record.

 

Roberts, a native of Kitimat, has amassed a 10-5-2 record through 17 games so far this season, with three (3) shutouts and a 1.88 goals against average (GAA). She recorded similar statistics during the 2014-2015 season, with a 9-2-1 record, 1.86 GAA, and three (3) shutouts. She will join Desjardins at the University of Calgary.

 

Savard, a 5’6” forward from Port Alberni, is currently playing her first full FMAAA season with the Seals. She has tallied 22 points (11 goals, 10 assists) in 26 games, and scored three (3) goals in three (3) games as an affiliate player last season. She will attend the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Edmonton and play for the Ooks.

 

Wierenga, a 5’6” netminder from North Vancouver, has committed to the University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds, who are currently first in the CIS’ Canada West conference with a 15-7-2 record.

 

The FMAAA program consists of six (6) zone-based teams across the province – the Fraser Valley Rush (Langley), Greater Vancouver Comets (Coquitlam), Kootenay Wild (Nelson), Northern Capitals (Prince George), Thompson-Okanagan Lakers (Vernon), and Vancouver Island Seals (Campbell River). The teams play a 30 game regular season, followed by the playoffs. The FMAAA Champion has the opportunity to compete for the ESSO Cup, Hockey Canada's National Female Midget Championship, which will take place in Weyburn, Saskatchewan from April 19 - 25, 2016.

 

The FMAAA program was initiated in the 2007-2008 season in response to the membership’s desire to provide an opportunity for elite female hockey players to come together on zone teams to challenge other elite female Midget teams. The league has had nearly 100 players move on to post-secondary hockey opportunities.
