There’s just one (1) weekend of league play left, and teams are racing towards the playoffs. Catch up on all the action around the league with our Week 21 recap.
Greater Vancouver Canadians vs. Vancouver North West Giants
Game 1: Greater Vancouver 1, Vancouver NW 7
Game 2: Greater Vancouver 0, Vancouver NW 2
The Canadians and Giants played a home-and-home series over the weekend, with the Giants taking both games. In Game 1, Vancouver NW got the chance to show off their offense, with Liam Kindree (2), Ethan Cap, Jason Village, Mateo Coltellaro, Josh Latta, and Jackson Shepard each finding the back of the net. Eric Bourhill got the lone goal for the Canadians in the 7-1 loss. In Game 2, David Tendeck earned the shutout in net and Mitchell Williams and Coltellaro scored a goal apiece in the 2-0 win.
Thompson Blazers vs. Okanagan Rockets
Game 1: Thompson 1, Okanagan 3
Game 2: Thompson 1, Okanagan 8
The regional rivals played in Kamloops over the weekend, with the Rockets winning both games. In Game 1, Ryan Chyzowski scored for the Blazers, but it wasn’t enough as Zach Erhardt, Hayden Dick, and Jacob Bourchier scored for the Rockets. In Game 2, the Rockets showed off their firepower, as Eli Zummack scored a hat trick and Erhardt (2), Chase Stevenson (2), and Hayden Courtney also added to the goals column. Matthew Facchinelli scored the lone Thompson goal in the loss.
Valley West Hawks vs. South Island Royals
Game 1: Valley West 6, South Island 0
Game 2: Valley West 3, South Island 1
The first-place Valley West Hawks hosted the South Island Royals over the weekend. In Game 1, the Hawks got the chance to show off their offense, with five (5) different players scoring: Josh Bruce (2), Christian Bosa, Ben Evanish, Daniel Chifan, and Ilijah Colina. Nicholas Tallarico got the shutout in net. In Game 2, the Royals held the Hawks to just three (3) goals from Evanish (2) and Bosa. Lach Hadley scored the Royals’ only goal.
Fraser Valley Thunderbirds vs. Kootenay Ice
Game 1: Fraser Valley 6, Kootenay 1
Game 2: Fraser Valley 6, Kootenay 2
Jake Mulder (2), Mackenzie Wight, Zac McKee, Nowel Maarhuis, and Jonathan Rees scored in Game 1 to help the Thunderbirds to a 6-1 win over the visiting Kootenay squad (Hunter Floris scored the Ice’s only goal). In Game 2, Kootenay was only down 3-2 going into the third period (goals by Floris and Shawn Campbell), but the T-Birds blew the game open with three (3) third period goals. Johnathan Stein got the hat trick for Fraser Valley, while Baxter Anderson (2) and Wight also found the back of the net.
Vancouver North East Chiefs vs. North Island Silvertips
Game 1: Vancouver NE 6, North Island 0
Game 2: Vancouver NE 4, North Island 3

The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
