BC Hockey announced the Female Midget AAA (FMAAA) All-Star Team for the 2015-2016 season. Members of the All-Star Team were voted on by FMAAA team staff. The FMAAA All-Star Team is:

 

 

Wierenga backstopped the Rush to a 4-8-3 record with a 95.9 save percentage and a 1.48 goals against average. She has committed to the University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) league for the 2016-2017 season.

 

Blackburne, a 5’5” West Kelowna native, anchored the Lakers’ blue line this season. In 30 games she tallied 10 points (3G, 7A) and worked as a shutdown defenceman against other teams' top lines, helping her team to a semifinals appearance.

 

Byer was part of a Capitals defense that allowed just 44 goals against in 30 regular season games and helped the team to an FMAAA Championship. The 5’11 defenseman scored 12 points (5G, 7A) and garnered Player of the Month honours in December. She will play hockey for the Mount Royal University Cougars (CIS) next season.

 

Desjardins was the FMAAA’s second-leading scorer this season, tallying 36 points (17G, 19A) in regular season play and helping her team to the FMAAA Championship. She finished her FMAAA career as the league’s all-time leading scorer, with a total of 99 points (36G, 63A) in three (3) seasons. She will head to the University of Calgary (CIS) in the fall.

 

Fletcher scored 26 points (18G, 8A) to lead the Lakers offense and help the team to a semifinal appearance, where they pushed the eventual champion Northern Capitals to overtime in game three (3). She has committed to play for the UBC Thunderbirds (CIS) for the 2017-2018 season.

 

Pakozdy was the FMAAA’s leading scorer for the 2015-2016 season, racking up 23 goals and 19 assists for a total of 42 points in just 30 regular season games – a point-per-game average of 1.40. She will head to Toronto in the fall, having committed to play for the Ryerson University Rams (CIS) next season.

 

The FMAAA program consists of six (6) zone-based teams across the province – the Fraser Valley Rush (Langley), Greater Vancouver Comets (Coquitlam), Kootenay Wild (Nelson), Northern Capitals (Prince George), Thompson-Okanagan Lakers (Vernon), and Vancouver Island Seals (Campbell River). The teams play a 30 game regular season, followed by the playoffs. The FMAAA Champion has the opportunity to compete for the ESSO Cup, Hockey Canada's National Female Midget Championship, which will take place in Morden, Manitoba in April 2017.

 

The FMAAA program was initiated in the 2007-2008 season in response to the membership’s desire to provide an opportunity for elite female hockey players to come together on zone teams to challenge other elite female Midget teams. The program has had nearly 100 players move on to post-secondary hockey opportunities.
