Hockey Canada announced that 6 Major Midget League (MML) players have been invited to attend the National U17 Development Camp from July 26 – August 1, 2016 in Calgary, Alberta.

Burzan helped the Hawks to the MML Championship with 47 points (16 goals, 31 assists) in 29 regular season games. He was drafted sixth overall by the WHL’s Moose Jaw Warriors.
Chyzowski, a first round draft pick of the WHL’s Medicine Hat Tigers, scored 22 points (14 goals, 8 assists) for the Blazers in 31 games this season.
Leppard was drafted eighth overall by the Prince George Cougars. He spent the 2015-2016 season with the Vancouver North West Giants, where he scored 14 goals and 17 assists for a total of 31 points in 34 games.
Shepard scored 42 points (13 goals, 29 assists) in 37 games for the Giants this season. He was a second round draft pick of the Kamloops Blazers.
Zummack, a second round draft pick of the Red Deer Rebels, finished fifth in the MML in scoring this season, tallying 52 points (14 goals, 38 assists) in 37 games for the Okanagan Rockets.
Cap scored 17 points (3 goals, 14 assists) from the blue line for the Giants. He was drafted eleventh overall by the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL.
From July 26, 2016 to August 1, 2016, 111 players will participate in practices and a mini-tournament on one (1) of six (6) teams at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park. From the development camp, 66 players will be selected to represent Canada on one (1) of three (3) national teams – Black, Red and White – at the 2016 World U17 Hockey Challenge taking place October 28, 2016 – November 5, 2016 in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
