The 2016 Male U16 Provincial Camp wrapped up in Shawnigan Lake, BC today with Team BC Grey taking game four (4) 5-1 over Team BC Blue. The two (2) teams competed in four (4) games, practices and various off-ice activities, which introduced the high performance athletes to the most up to date information and concepts as they relate to both national and international levels of hockey.

The 44 players invited to attend the camp were selected based on performances at the U16 BC Cup that was held in Salmon Arm, BC earlier this year. Based on performance at the Provincial Camp, 20 players will be named to Team BC which will compete at the 2016 Western Branch Challenge this fall against Team Alberta, Team Saskatchewan and Team Manitoba.

The BC Hockey High Performance U16 Program is the second stage in BC Hockey’s High Performance Program, exposing players, coaches and officials to short term competition. The U16 Program also acts as a precursor to the Hockey Canada U17 High Performance Program, which is used to identify and train players and team personnel for National Teams.
