The MML has introduced rule adjustments for the 2016-17 season:
-
A five (5) minute, three (3) on three (3) overtime period for tied regular season games (the game will end in a tie if no one scores during the overtime period)
-
Offensive zone face-offs for power plays
-
No change icing
The 220 game regular season wraps up the weekend of March 4 – 5, 2017, with the playoffs beginning March 11, 2017. The MML Championship series will take place March 25 – 26, 2017. Additionally, BC is hosting the Pacific Regionals March 31 – April 1, 2017, which will see the winner earn a TELUS Cup berth.
The Cariboo Cougars are hosting the TELUS Cup in Prince George from April 22 – 29, 2017, where they will face off against the Pacific, Western, Central, Quebec, and Atlantic Midget Regional Champions for Canada’s National Midget Championship.
The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
