South Island Royals vs. Thompson Blazers

The Royals dominated Game #1 as they found the back of the net six (6) times, with a different player scoring each time. Jonah Ragsdale, Evan Easton, James Vince, Sean Strange, Joe Leaky, and Ryan Strange each scored one (1) goal apiece in the win. The Blazers responded in Game 2, with Trent Thompson, Luke Recchi, and Jayden Castle scoring in the win. Strange scored the lone goal for the Royals.
Kootenay Ice vs. Vancouver NW Giants
Game 1: Kootenay 4, Vancouver NW 1
Game 2: Vancouver NW 7, Kootenay 3
The Ice shocked the Giants in Trail on Saturday, taking Game 1 with a 4-1 score. Keenan Crossman found the back of the net twice, while Simon Nemethy and Ethan Jang also scored. Lucas Patton scored the Giants’ only goal. The Giants bounced back in Game 2, Cole Moberg (2), Liam Kindree (2), Hudson Schandor, Matteo Pecchia, and Jack Graham scored, while Tommy McConnachie, Terrell Clarricoates, and Aiden Jenner scored for the Ice in the loss.
Cariboo Cougars vs. Vancouver NE Chiefs
Game 1: Cariboo 6, Vancouver NE 1
Game 2: Cariboo 6, Vancouver NE 1
The Cougars and Chiefs participated in a weekend full of activities, showcasing hockey in the Yukon. The Cougars felt right at home in Whitehorse, winning both games by a score of 6-1. In Game 1, Mason Richey, Brandon Dent, Reid Perepeluk, Darian Long, Riley Krane, and Grady Thomas scored for Cariboo, while Sho Takai scored for Vancouver NE. In Game 2, Daine Dubois (2), Brandon Rowley, Myles Mattila, Devin Sutton, and Jeremy Gervais scored for the Cougars, while Liam Ryan scored the Chiefs’ only goal.
Greater Vancouver Canadians vs. North Island Silvertips
Game 1: Greater Vancouver 7, North Island 1
Game 2: Greater Vancouver 7, North Island 0
Chris Douglas (2), Henry Rybinski, Scott Atkinson, Grayson Valente, Jayden Ghieuw, and Ben Landon scored in Game 1, while the Silvertips’ Luciano Wilson scored late in the third period to prevent the shutout. The Canadians posted another seven (7) goals in Game 2, with Emerson Kostner (2), Radek Hewson, Noah Kelly, Douglas, Ghieuw, and Atkinson finding the back of the net.
Fraser Valley Thunderbirds vs. Valley West Hawks
Game 1: Fraser Valley 2, Valley West 2
Game 2: Valley West 4, Fraser Valley 3
The Hawks and Thunderbirds skated to a 2-2 tie in Game 1, with Carter Graham and Jonathan Rees scoring for the Thunderbirds, while Nolan Krogfoss and Kabir Gill scored for the Hawks. Valley West picked up the win in Game 2 thanks to goals from Bobby Russell (2), Trevor Isaksson, and Calder Newson. Nowel Maarhuis, Baxter Anderson, and Brodi Stuart scored for the Thunderbirds in the loss.
The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
