The Cariboo Cougars of the BC Major Midget League (MML) have announced their team staff for the 2017-2018 season. Trevor Sprague remains the team’s general manager while Tyler Brough will be the team’s new head coach. He will be joined on the bench by assistant coaches Justin Fillion and RJay Berra.
The announcement sees Trevor Sprague relinquishing the head coach duties while holding on to the general manager responsibilities. Trevor is a two (2) time MML coach of the year, and guided the Cougars to the MML title this past season. Tyler Brough has spent the past two (2) seasons with Cariboo as an assistant coach. Brough played for the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Prince George Cougars scoring 57 points in three (3) full seasons. Both assistant coaches, Justin Fillion and RJay Berra are former Cariboo Cougar players who also played in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). Pam Solmonson will return as the team’s athletic therapist for her second season with the Cougars.
The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
