BC Hockey announced that Rayman Bassi of the Okanagan Rockets has been named the Major Midget League (MML) Player of the Month for January 2018.
Bassi, a 17 year-old forward from Kelowna, helped the Rockets to a perfect 4-0 record in the month of January. With points in all four (4) games in January, he ended the month on a nine (9) game point streak. On the season, Bassi has nine (9) goals and 17 assists for 26 points in 25 games.
Off the ice, Bassi, along with his teammates have given back to reading to kids at the regional library and volunteered with the Salvation Army.
Bassi was chosen from a high-calibre list of other nominees, including:
Mason Richey (Cariboo Cougars)
Quaid Anderson (Kootenay Ice)
Ethan Jones (North Island Silvertips)
Rowan Miller (South Island Royals)
Ethan Langenegger (Thompson Blazers)
Nolan Krogfoss (Valley West Hawks)
Jihwan Kim (Vancouver North East Chiefs)
Ben Landon (Vancouver North West Giants)
The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year-olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship taking place in Sudbury, Ontario April 23-29, 2018.
