The Valley West Hawks of the BC Major Midget League (MML) are pleased to announce that Jamie Fiset (Langley) has been named the team’s general manager and Kyle Spencer (Surrey) will become the team’s new head coach.
Fiset takes over the general manager duties from Stefan Burzan while Kyle Spencer takes over from Rob Evers as head coach.
Fiset has been with the Ridge Meadows Flames of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL) as the team’s general manager and assistant coach since 2009. He has also been a part of BC Hockey programming working on both the male and female Program of Excellence (POE) camps. Fiset has also served as a minor hockey coach with Langley Minor Hockey Association (MHA).
Spencer was the Hawks’ assistant coach for the last two (2) seasons, helping the team claim the 2017-2018 regular season title. Prior to his time with the Hawks, Spencer had been a minor hockey coach with Cloverdale MHA and in Alberta with St. Albert MHA.
The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
