Wes McLeod (Mission) has been named the inaugural head coach of the Valley West Hawks Minor Midget team.

McLeod spent the 2017-2018 season as an assistant coach with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). Prior to his time with the Oil Barons, McLeod was an assistant coach with the BC Major Midget League’s (MML) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds. McLeod has also coached with the Mission Minor Hockey Association (MHA) and was named the MHA’s Senior Coach of the Year in 2016.

McLeod has been a part of the BC Hockey Male Program of Excellence (POE) as an evaluator and as a coach at the 2018 BC Cup.

Kyle Spencer (Surrey) has been named the new head coach with the Valley West Hawks  MML team.

The BC Hockey Minor Midget League will begin play in 2018-2019 and gives an opportunity for 15 year-old players to develop with other athletes of the same age and is affiliated with the MML.
