BC Hockey’s Male U16 BC Cup wrapped up in Salmon Arm, BC as Team BC White defeated Team BC Grey 5-0 at the Shaw Centre.
Layton Feist (Okanagan-North/Coldstream, BC) led Team BC White with a pair of goals in the gold medal game including the game-winning goal early in the second period to help Team BC White to the BC Cup title. Mathew Ward from Team BC Red (Delta Hockey Academy/Richmond, BC), led the tournament in scoring with eight (8) goals in four (4 games)

Players were invited to the BC Cup following regional camps held across BC. Select players will move on to the next stage for the Male U16 Program of Excellence (POE) which is the BC Hockey Provincial Camp being held in Shawnigan Lake, BC July 29 - August 2, 2019. Following the Provincial Camp, 20 players will be named to Team BC which will compete at the 2019 WHL Cup being held in Calgary, Alberta in October 2019 where Team BC will look to repeat as gold medalists competing against Team Alberta, Team Manitoba and Team Saskatchewan.
The BC Hockey Male Program of Excellence (POE) was introduced in 1980 with the mandate to systematically identify and train the BC Hockey’s elite-level players for high-performance hockey events. The overall objective of the program is to increase the chances of athletes from BC to compete provincially, regionally, nationally and internationally with the ultimate goal being selected to Hockey Canada’s National Junior or National Senior team.
