The 2019 Female U18 Provincial Camp kicks off today at Shawnigan Lake School in Shawnigan Lake, BC. The camp runs until Sunday, July 28, 2019 and features on and off-ice activities that introduce the elite athletes to the most up to date information and concepts as they relate to both national and international levels of hockey.
The camp is designed to further expose athletes to an elite level of training, team tactics and expectations of becoming part of Team BC. The goal is to assist participants in their hockey journey in an environment that encourages them to pursue their goals while providing information and training that is in line with the long term athlete development plan of Hockey Canada.
Players will participate in a fitness testing session, on-ice skill sessions, strength and conditioning sessions and three (3) games over the course of the four (4) day event, as well as separate goaltending sessions.
BC Hockey’s Female Program of Excellence (POE) was established to identify and train athletes and team personnel for possible participation at provincial, national and international events. BC Hockey’s female U18 level is the third and final stage of the POE and is an opportunity for the top players in BC and the Yukon to train and compete at an elite level and is meant to introduce players to the beginning of the Hockey Canada POE.
