BC Hockey announced today that Breeanna Mussell, a forward for the Okanagan Rockets has been selected as the Female Midget AAA player of the month for December. Mussell had a great month finishing with five (5) goals and no penalty minutes. Her leadership on the team is a reason why the Okanagan Rockets currently sit second in league standings.
“Breeanna showed she could be a leader on and off the ice this weekend,” said Rocket’s head coach Maurice Blanleil. “She has a very good work ethic on the ice.”
Breeanna was chosen from a high calibre list of other nominees. The runners up in no particular order are as follows:
-
Saanich Breakers – Marie Vondracek
-
Prince George Cougars – Kristin Becker
-
Vancouver Fusion – Alana Levido
-
Kamloops Mystixs – Kelsey Singer
-
Fraser Valley Phantom – Alison Li
-
Kootenay Wildcats – Erin Dermody
The Female Midget AAA League was initiated in the 2007-2008 season in response to the membership’s desire to provide an opportunity for elite female hockey players to come together on zone teams to challenge other elite Female Midget teams.
