Cariboo Cougars Host Alumni Game
Friday, January 8, 2010
The Cariboo Cougars hosted an Alumni game on December 24 at the CN Centre in Prince George, BC. The current Cougars roster took on the Alumni. The Alumni scored the win against the current Cougars roster, 16-9.
The participating alumni for the Cougars included the following players:
- Brett Connolly – WHL – Prince George Cougars (guest coach)
- Dan Gibb – WHL – Prince George Cougars
- Alex Wright – WHL – Prince George Cougars
- Garrett Thiessen – WHL – Prince George Cougars
- Ryan Howse – WHL – Chilliwack Bruins
- Brandon Manning – WHL – Chilliwack Bruins
- Dylan Willick – WHL – Kamloops Blazers
- Lyndon Martel – BCHL – Prince George Spruce Kings
- Sam Muchalla – BCHL – Prince George Spruce Kings
The current Cariboo Cougars were motivated and inspired to play this game, as it was hard evidence of the opportunity they are being given to play a higher level of hockey in the MML. This game also opened a few eyes as people saw how Junior Hockey “stars” have come out of the Cariboo Cougar & BC Hockey Major Midget League program.
The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
