The inaugural Female Midget AAA All Star game was held last night at the Nanaimo Ice Centre in Nanaimo, BC. Team Blue scored the 5-0 win over Team White.
The game was full of stars, but only three (3) could be selected as Game Stars.
Game Three Stars
First Star – Natasha Panahi (Coquitlam, BC)
Second Star – Jordan Krause (Kelowna, BC)
Third Star – Madison Sands (Maple Ridge, BC)
The game opened with Team Blue getting on the board at the nine (9) minute mark of the first period with a marker from Nikola Brown-John (Kamloops, BC). Team Blue increased their lead in the second period with goals from Nicole Saxvik (North Vancouver, BC) and Ella Matteucci (Montrose, BC). Team White fought hard, but were unable to beat the goaltending tandem of Meagan Spooner (Prince George, BC) and Alison Li (Richmond, BC). Blue added two (2) more goals in the third period from Bre Frasca (Kamloops, BC) and Jordan Krause (Kelowna, BC).
During the first and second intermission a skills competition was held for all the players participating in the game. The winners are as follows:
- Fastest Skater: Sarah Casorso (Kelowna, BC) – 16.47 seconds
- Breakaway Challenge – Shooter: Natasha Panahi (Coquitlam, BC)
- Breakaway Challenge – Goalie: Alison Li (Richmond, BC)
The Female Midget AAA League was initiated in the 2007-2008 season in response to the membership’s desire to provide an opportunity for elite female hockey players to come together on zone teams to challenge other elite Female Midget teams.
