BC Hockey announced April 15, 2010 the players selected to the 2009-10 Major Midget League All-Star Team. Players were selected based on votes from BC Hockey Major Midget League coaches. Coaches were prohibited from voting for players on their own team. Each player will be presented with an award from BC Hockey.
Goalie – Marcus Beesley – Cariboo Cougars
Beesley finished the year with an impressive 17-5-4 record for the Cougars and was a main reason for the teams second place finish in the MML Regular Season.
Defenceman – Max Mowat – Okanagan Rockets
Mowat had an outstanding year with the Okanagan Rockets finishing third in team scoring and led the MML in defensive scoring with 36 points – 13 goals and 23 assists – 40 games.
Defenceman – Griffin Reinhart – Vancouver North West Giants
Reinhart led the defense core for the Vancouver North West Giants. In addition to his strong defensive play he finished the season with 34 points in 32 games. Reinhart was also named the MVP at the Pacific Midget Regional’s.
Forward – Steven Iacobellis – Vancouver North West Giants
Iacobellis, the team captain for the Vancouver North West Giants capped off another strong year in the MML with 59 points in 38 games. His leadership played an integral role in the Giants winning the prestigious 2010 Mac’s Midget Tournament.
Forward – Curtis Loik – Vancouver North West Giants
Loik finished the regular season with 61 points in 33 games for the 2009-10 MML Champions, Vancouver North West Giants. His 11 points in five (5) playoff games was a league best.
Forward – Evan Richardson – Nanaimo Silvertips
Richardson was one (1) of the most dominant players in the MML this past season leading the league in scoring with 73 points – 37 goals and 35 assists. His strong play helped transform the Silvertips from an out-of-playoff team to a contender for the MML Championship
The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
