BC Hockey announced today that Vancouver North West Giants forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been named as the Major Midget League Player of the Month for October. As a first year player, Nugent-Hopkins lead the league in points with 12 goals and seven (7) assists for a total of 19 points in the month of October.
“Since being drafted number one overall in the Bantam draft there were high expectations for Ryan on the North West Giants. And he hasn’t disappointed,” said Giants head coach Jon Calvano, “What was really a surprise was how well grounded Ryan was in the dressing room.”
As well as being named Player of the Month, Nugent-Hopkins will receive a gift from Mission-Itech on his selection.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was chosen from a high calibre list of other nominees for this prestigious award. The runners up in no particular order are as follows:

The BC Hockey Major Midget League was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year olds an opportunity to play within their own age group. Playing at this high level and be developed for the next level of hockey. These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the National Midget Championship.
