“Hometown Hockey” Coming to BC and the Yukon
Thursday, September 10, 2015
Canada’s ultimate hockey festival is set for another season-long, cross-country celebration as Rogers announced the 24 communities that will host the 2015-16 Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour. Five (5) communities in BC and the Yukon have been selected as hosts.
Starting in Kitchener, Ontario and finishing in Winnipeg, Manitoba, this year’s celebration promises to be bigger and better, while highlighting the best of each town and exploring its deep hockey roots. The five (5) communities from BC and the Yukon are:
January 23 – 24, 2016
Whitehorse, YT
February 13 – 14, 2016
New Westminster, BC
February 20 – 21, 2016
Abbotsford, BC
February 27 – 28, 2016
Victoria, BC
March 12 – 13, 2016
Penticton, BC
National Hockey League (NHL) alumni, hometown heroes and local entertainment will appear at each stop along the way. Ron MacLean will deliver unique hockey stories inside the Sportsnet Mobile Studio every Sunday.
The pre-game show, intermission and post-game will continue to feature NHL alumni, special guests and Sportsnet personalities, and will include features on local NHL players and grassroots stories.
Each destination on the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour will deliver a jam-packed weekend of free outdoor activities in the heart of each community celebrating all things hockey. Fan favourites such as Sportsnet Be a Broadcaster, Scotiabank Community Locker Room and Dodge Stow ’n Go Challenge will be back, and there will be new GamePlus experiences that will take participants behind the scenes and closer to the stars of the game.
