Twenty-three (23) BC Hockey Minor Hockey Associations (MHA) will participate in the First Shift Program in 2017-2018, with two (2) additional MHAs on the waiting list. Last year, 12 BC Hockey MHAs participated in the program.
With an emphasis on fun, The First Shift Program allows kids aged 6-10 to easily try hockey for $199, which includes enrollment for a six (6) week, on-ice curriculum and head-to-toe Bauer equipment that each child can keep. The initiative began in 2014 with four (4) pilot programs in Ontario and Nova Scotia, and has expanded in each of the following seasons.

Details may vary slightly from location to location and program to program, but the parameters of every offering will fall in line with the key principles of The Canadian Tire First Shift.
