BC Hockey Officials Selected for Spring Championships

BC Hockey announced that Adam Griffiths (Victoria) has been selected as one (1) of five (5) referees that will officiate at the 2017 Royal Bank Cup. He will join fellow referees Adam Bloski (SHA), Jesse Wilmot (OHF), Peter Kostyk (OHF) and Guillaume Labonte (HQ) and host Branch appointed linesmen at the event.

Adam obtained his Hockey Canada Level VI certification at the 2015 national seminar in Moncton, NB. This is Griffiths’ second Level VI assignment, the first being the 2016 World Junior A Challenge in Bonnyville, Alberta.  Adam represented BC Hockey as a participant at the 2010 Hockey Canada Officiating Program of Excellence, which led to a selection to the 2013 World U17 Challenge in Quebec.  He has instructed at several BC Hockey Summer Officiating Schools and is currently a supervisor in the BC Major Midget League (MML) and Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) as part of the above minor program. In 2016, Adam officiated the championship game at the RBC Cup qualifying event, the Western Canada Cup (WCC). This past season he officiated in the: British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), Western Hockey League (WHL) and Canadian University (USport) which included being assigned to both game five (5) and six (6) of the BCHL Championship series.

An honorable mention to the officials that just completed their assignment to the 2017 WCC in Penticton, BC. BC referees Steve Brown (Comox), Grant Tyson (Trail) and Duncan Brow (Richmond) were joined by Allen Scott (Manitoba), Brett Roeland (Saskatchewan) and Jordan Lightbown (Alberta). BC Hockey linesmen Brett Mackey (Surrey), Mike McGowan (Mission), Devon Septhon (Chilliwack), Tim Plamondon (Kelowna), James Carr (Vernon) and Dustin Minty (Summerland) also participated in the event. Brow, Lightbown, Plamondon and Carr officiated the championship game.
