BC Hockey player Michael Rasmussen (Surrey) was selected by the Detroit Red Wings, ninth (9th) overall at the NHL Draft in Chicago.
Rasmussen played this past season with the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Tri-City Americans and had 55 points (32G, 33A) in 50 games.
Internationally, he represented Canada at the 2016 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament where he had four (4) points (1G, 3A) in four (4) games and at the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge with Team Canada White.
Rasmussen has come through the BC Hockey Program of Excellence competing for Team BC at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George along with attending the U16 Provincial Camp and U16 BC Cup.
Prior to his time in the WHL, Rasmussen amassed 50 points (27G, 23A) in 28 games with the Okanagan Hockey Academy in 2014-2015.
