The 2018 Western Canadian Bantam AAA Championship will see elite hockey players converging in Kamloops British Columbia this year. The tournament dates are set for March 29 – April 1, 2018.
This prestigious event, co-sponsored by the Western Hockey League (WHL), features elite-level 13 and 14-year-old hockey players in Western Canada, many of whom will be drafted in the upcoming 2018 WHL Bantam Draft. Five (5) teams, representing all four (4) western provinces, will compete in a round-robin format tournament starting March 29, 2018. The top two (2) teams advance to the championship final on Sunday April 1, 2018.
BC Hockey will be represented by two (2) teams. The host Thompson Zone Blazers based in Kamloops, and the BC Hockey champions, yet to be crowned.
“The City of Kamloops and the host committee are very proud to host the 2018 Western Canadian Bantam AAA Championship,” said Trevor Streek, co-chair of the event. “This tournament is a prestigious event that allows elite players to showcase their talents as they get ready for the next phase of their young hockey careers. We look forward to the opportunity to host the teams from the western provinces here in the tournament capital.”
The tournament gets underway on Thursday, March 29, 2018 and runs through until Sunday April 1, 2018 with all games scheduled at the McArthur Island Sports and Events Centre in the Tournament Capital.
