Diane Nelson owned and operated the first professional women’s hockey team in Western Canada, the Vancouver Griffins. The team only operated for three (3) seasons from 2000 to 2003, but had an impressive roster headlined by Hockey Hall of Fame hockey player Cammi Granato for a short time.
Diane is still very active in Vancouver and works as a school principal. Diane is the founder of West Vancouver Schools 10 Premier Academy Programs, and has been twice nominated for the YWCA’s Women of Distinction Award. Diane has also worked with the Vancouver Canucks, and has been an education consultant for their Community Partnership Program. Diane is the creator of Fin’s Friends, a character education program.
