Cam Neely, originally from Comox BC, but grew up in Male Ridge and played minor hockey with Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association, before moving to junior where he won a Memorial Cup with the Portland Winter Hawks in 1983. Neely was also drafted that summer in the first round ninth overall by the Vancouver Canucks. Neely spent three (3) seasons in Vancouver, before being traded to Boston in 1986 where he become a staple for the Bruins, and served as an alternate captain for the franchise from 1988, until his retirement in 1996. Neely scored 694 points in his 726 NHL games, and is still involved in the Bruins franchise, where he has been the president since 2010. Cam Neely was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005, and the BC Hockey Hall of Fame in 1999.
