Dr. Bob Hindmarch has been involved in every aspect of sport, he has even been called “Mr. Everything” by some. Bob is a very multi-talented individual, during his days as an athlete he played about everything there was to play. Bob co-captained the UBC football team, while also playing basketball and baseball for the school. He won athlete of the year, in what was surely a landslide victory. Bob’s contribution to hockey comes in an administration form, as well as behind the bench as a coach. Bob returned to UBC following his graduation, and coached twelve (12) seasons with the UBC Thunderbirds, eleven (11) of which were winning seasons. Bob owns the UBC record for most wins as their hockey coach. Bob would also work as an assistant coach with the Canadian National team in 1964, and was successful in helping bring the Grizzlies NBA team to Vancouver. Bob’s resume boasts a number of impressive recognitions including The Order of British Columbia, which he was awarded in 2010. Bob Hindmarch has also been inducted into both the BC Sports Hall of Fame, and the BC Hockey Hall of Fame in 2006, and 2012 respectively.
