BC Hockey 100 Great Moments: Jim Mailey
Thursday, January 31, 2019

Jim Mailey (Trail, BC) was deeply involved in all sports, however he was involved in hockey in a greater capacity than others.

Mailey played his Junior and Senior hockey with the Trail Smoke Eaters, and coached Midget, Juvenile, Junior and Intermediate hockey after he finished playing.  However, Jim didn’t only play and coach, he also officiated at the Junior and Senior levels, even organizing and instructing officiating clinics in British Columbia.

Jim Mailey received a few BC Hockey Awards, including winning the Mowat Cup as a coach for the Junior A Trail Smoke Eaters and the Midget AAA Cromie Memorial Cup as the coach for Trail.

He was awarded the Fred Heslop Minor Hockey Week Award in 1965 and the prestigious Diamond Stick award in 1978.

BC Hockey is a non-profit organization and member of Hockey Canada in charge of governing amateur hockey at all levels in British Columbia and the Yukon Territory.

Approximately 150 minor hockey associations, 55,000 players, 4,500 referees, 20,000 official volunteers and countless others make our great game possible here in Pacific Canada.
