High Performance 1 Seminar Registration
Monday, March 4, 2019

BC Hockey is excited to announce that registration for the 2019 National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) High Performance 1 (HP1) Seminar is open.  The seminar will take place July 11 – 16, 2019 in Kamloops, BC.  The application deadline is May 15, 2019.

The seminar will include professional speakers in the delivery of sessions including special teams, planning to perform, offensive/defensive team play, goaltending, game and bench management, ethics in coaching, team building and many more.  Speakers and other details for the HP1 Seminar will be announced later.  Previous speakers have included:

Ken Hitchock

Head Coach, Edmonton Oilers

Barry Trotz

Head Coach, New York Islanders

Don Hay

Assistant Coach, Portland Winterhawks

Marc Crawford

Associate Coach, Ottawa Senators

National coach requirements relating to HP1 certification indicate that:

All head coaches coaching Bantam, Midget and Junior A teams that compete in Inter-provincial or national championships or the highest level as determined by the Branch, must be HP1 certified. It is recommended that all assistant coaches be at minimum Development 1 trained.

Coaches are considered "trained" after attending the week-long course. To obtain "certified" status, coaches must successfully complete the written assignment, field evaluation and Making Ethical Decisions courses by the set deadlines.

All candidates applying for HP1 will be subject to selection by the BC Hockey Coaching Committee.  Not all applicants will qualify for the HP1 level.
