Thursday, August 15, 2019

BC Hockey announced that Dave Dupas (West Kelowna, BC) has been named the Regional Manager - Thompson/Okanagan. With over 40 years in hockey, Dupas brings extensive hockey knowledge and coaching experience to this new position.

He has held the positions of head coach, assistant coach and general manager for 20 years at all levels from Bantam to professional. Most recently, Dupas was the head coach and general manager for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). Prior to joining the Oil Barons, he was part of the Prince George Spruce Kings of the BC Hockey League (BCHL) and Williams Lake Timber Wolves (formerly in the BCHL) organizations.

"We are thrilled to have Dave Dupas join our team at BC Hockey," said BC Hockey Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Barry Petrachenko. "We are confident that his approach and hockey experience are a great compliment for the strong leadership that exists in this region of our province, and we look forward to the advancements in programming that will result."

The location for the BC Hockey Regional Centre - Thompson/Okanagan has yet to be determined and will be announced in the near future.

The purpose of opening the regional centre is to provide a focus on support for coach, officiating and minor rec development opportunities and to supply administrative functions for BC Hockey program leaders in the region. The centre will act a resource centre for the Minor Hockey Associations (MHA) and Junior and Senior teams in the Thompson/Okanagan region and will help bridge the gap between administrative procedures at the district and branch level.
