2020 Fred Heslop Minor Hockey Week Awards - Jeremy Robb

Jeremy joined our Association as a goalie coach last season and has done an amazing job ensuring our young goalies get specialized coaching and training throughout the season. Last spring, he recognized some growing interest with a small group of H4 girls and approached the Board about offering a Girls Spring Development Camp to gauge interest in the community. It was an amazing success and resulted in 13 new female players joining the Association this season and the ability to form an all-girls Atom team for the first time ever.
It has been amazing to watch these young girls play, grow and develop this season. The girls team has also allowed some of our older girls to gain some leadership as on-ice trainers as well has brought a female referee to join as the main referee for the girls games. It has also brought interest from other female hockey players (non-parent) in the community to ask how they can get involved. The team is doing well and even went up a flight - amazing accomplishment as some girls could barely skate at the beginning of the season.
The girls team is a joy to watch on and off the ice. They got involved in the community to volunteer at two (2) Ironman stations this summer and did a 'Fill the Net' Food Drive at Christmas raising $420 and collected a ton of food donations for the Whistler Food Bank. We have also received positive emails from other team managers who have met the girls and families at tournaments.
Hoping to have another Girls Development Camp this spring and grow the membership into two (2) teams to allow girls to continue to play together.
Jeremy coaches the Atom female team and is also our Development Manager this season. Where is organized weekly skills / development / power skate / goalie sessions with specialized coaches for each division throughout the season. It is a tremendous amount of work and organization and we greatly appreciate all his efforts.
