BC HOCKEY OFFERING FUNDING FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS' INITIATIVES

For Immediate Release
May 26, 2026

Saanichton, B.C. - BC Hockey is excited to announce enhancements and additions to our funding offers for the 2026-27 season for women and girls' initiatives.

As in the past, Minor Hockey Associations (MHAs) can now apply for funding for an event/initiative. We encourage MHAs to look at creating their own initiatives to support women and girls' hockey recruitment and retention, officiating, coaching, membership opportunities and more. Our office is here to assist and support, both logistically and financially.

Below is a partial list of familiar initiatives that our members have undertaken in the past:

  • Esso Fun Days
  • Pathway to Hockey program
  • Skill sessions
  • Jamborees
  • Officiating seminars
  • On-ice coaching sessions
  • Try hockey programming

BC Hockey has set aside support funds of up to $7,000 for each region (Kootenays, North, Lower Mainland, Okanagan, Vancouver Island). MHAs can submit their event/initiative through THIS LINK.

All applications must be submitted a minimum of three weeks prior to the event date, and applying MHAs will be contacted within 10 business days regarding their application status.

We encourage members to reach out to Julie Dobell (femalehockey@bchockey.net) with any questions, and to ensure applications are completed correctly. Successful applicant MHA's will be asked to provide an invoice for reimbursement.

We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia.
