Saanichton, B.C. – The BCEHL is excited to announce the first set off monthly award winners for the 2023-24 season. The first award takes in the later part of September and all of October. Each league will have a forward, defender and goaltender honoured each month. The winners are chosen based on statistical and team success during the month. Strong work in the community will now be honoured twice a season, previously it was part of the criteria for player of the month.

Forward of the Month
#12 Sophia Dhami

Vancouver Island Seals
MHA: Victoria
Sophia Dhami of the Vancouver Island Seals is the September/October Forward of the Month for the Female U18 AAA League. The 13-year-old leads the league in goals (6), assists (11) and total points (17) through the first 10 games of the season. The Victoria, B.C. native has been strong on the power play contributing four points (1g-3a), which is also tied for the league lead.

#5 Kilah Hodder 
Thompson-Okanagan Lakers
MHA: Kelowna
Thompson-Okanagan Lakers’ blueliner, Kilah Hodder, earns the nod as the September/October Defender of the Month for the Female U18 AAA League. The Lakers’ alternate captain tallied 10 points (2g-8a) through 11 games. The 14-year-old sits fourth in the league in scoring and is tied for the league lead with two game-winning-goals. The Kelowna, B.C. native is third in the league in assists (8) and tied for fourth in power play assists (2).

Kennedy Chalmers of the Fraser Valley Rush has backstopped her way to September/October Goaltender of the Month for the Female U18 AAA League. The Langley, B.C. native has had a perfect start to the season as she has earned a 5-0-0-0 record through her first five games. The 15-year-old has one shutout and a league leading 0.99 goals against average to start the season

#10 Lucas McDonald

Vancouver North East Chiefs
MHA: New Westminster
Vancouver North East Chiefs’ forward, Lucas McDonald, has collected the September/October Forward of the Month for the U18 AAA league. McDonald has been setting a torrid pace as he has averaged just under two points per game (1.92) through the Chiefs first 12 games of the season. The New Westminster native has collected a league leading 12 goals and added nine assists for 23 points. The 16-year-old has also tallied four power play goals, which stands second in the league.

#24 Tyson Moss

Vancouver North East Chiefs
MHA: Port Moody
Defenceman Tyson Moss of the Vancouver North East Chiefs has earned the September/October Defender of the Month award for the U18 AAA league. The 5-11, 160 pound blueliner has notched six goals and 10 assists through 12 games. The Port Moody native leads all blueliners in goals and is tied for the league lead in assists for defencemen. His four points on the power play are also tied for the league lead among defencemen.

Goaltender of the Month
#30 Ryder Green 
Cariboo Cougars
MHA: Prince George
Ryder Green of the Cariboo Cougars is the September/October U18 AAA Goaltender of the Month. The Prince George native is off to a sizzling start to the season compiling a 6-0-1-0 record with one shutout through seven starts. The 16-year-old is tied for the league lead in goals against average with a 2.26 mark and has helped him backstopped his team to top of the standings.

#74 Kaeden Kalkat

Vancouver North East Chiefs
MHA: Burnaby Winter Club
Kaeden Kalkat’s 15 points (7g-8a) propelled him to the September/October U17 AAA Forward of the Month Award. The 15-year-old's 15 points leads the league as do his eight (4g-4a) powerplay points. The New Westminster native also tallied two game winning goals, which has helped his club climb to top spot in the league.

#72 Aaron Zulinick

Thompson Blazers
MHA: Kamloops
Thompson Blazers’ blueliner Aaron Zulinick has captured the September/October U17 AAA Defender of the Month Award. The 15-year-old led all defencemen in points (10) and assists (8) over the first six weeks of the season. The eight assists ties him for second overall in the league for helpers. The Kamloops native has also been effective on the power play chipping in four assists to this point.

#33 Maverick Bell

MHA: Ridge Meadows
Maverick Bell is the September/October U17 AAA Goaltender of the Month award. The 15-year-old Vancouver North East Chiefs’ goaltender compiled a 4-0-2-0 record since the start of the season. The Ridge Meadows, B.C. native has a league best 1.95 goals against average and has earned a shutout this season while backstopping his team to the best record in the league to this point.

#10 Christiano D'Addabbo

MHA: Coquitlam
With a blistering 25 points in only eight games, Christiano D’Addabbo of the Vancouver NE Chiefs is the runaway winner of the September/October U15 AAA Forward of the Month Award. The 14-year-old has counted a league leading 16 goals through his first eight games for a 2-goal-a-game pace. The Coquitlam native has added nine assists and a league leading six points (2g-4a) on the man advantage. He has also tallied three game winning goals.

#9 Koltin Herfst

Fraser Valley Thunderbirds
MHA: Chilliwack
The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds’ Koltin Herfst has earned the September/October U15 AAA Defender of Month award. The Chilliwack, B.C. native has been an assist machine as he has served up 10 helpers to this point in the season. The 10 assists lead all defenceman as well as the entire league. The 14-year-old has totalled 11 points through his team’s first seven games.

#1 Reed Russell 
Okanagan Rockets
MHA: Kelowna
With a record of 5-0-0-1, Reed Russell has been named the September/October U15 AAA Goaltender of the Month. The 14-year-old has had a stellar start to the season as he leads the league in wins (5) and ranks second in goals against average with a 2.14 mark (minimum 200 minutes played). The Kelowna, B.C. native has also earned a shutout.
