BCEHL PLAYOFF UPDATE - FEBRUARY 26 - MARCH 1

Saanichton, B.C. - This week the BCEHL playoffs kickoff with the U17 league starting their post season, and the U15 league playing their championship tournament. It’s the season where bragging rights are earned, legends are made, and trophies are raised! Let’s go!

Female U18 AAA

The Female U18 league playoffs begin on March 6 when the fourth-seeded Northern Capitals meet the fifth-seeded Vancouver Island Seals in a best-of-three play-in series. The top three teams join the post season party on March 13 along with the winner of the Capitals/Seals series.

U18 AAA

The U18 playoffs start on March 6 with the first round seeing the second through seventh seeds in action. The top seeded Vancouver North East Chiefs receive a bye into the second round, which begins the following week.

U17 AAA

The U17 playoffs kick off this week with four series underway. The marquee match-up will be the 3 vs. 6 match-up that will see the sixth-seeded Valley West Giants head north to Prince George to take on the third-seeded Cariboo Cougars. The teams met six times in the regular season with each team winning three games. The Cougars' Gavan Parmar led both teams in scoring with eight points (4g-4a) over the season series. The Giants' Shay Peters led Valley West with seven points (3g-4a).

All series are a best-of-three with games going Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (if necessary).

(8) Greater Vancouver Canadians vs. (1) Vancouver North West Hawks

(7) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds vs. (2) Vancouver North East Chiefs

(5) Thompson Blazers vs. (4) Okanagan Rockets

U15 AAA

The U15 league runs a unique playoff where all eight teams converge at the Canlan Sports Twin Rinks in Langley for a Thursday through Sunday tournament. The preliminary round takes place this Thursday and Friday with the quarterfinals and semifinals on Saturday. The championship will go on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

The U15 league regular season was highlighted by two teams battling throughout the year for top spot. The Okanagan Rockets eventually grabbed the top seed with a 27-3-0-0 record. The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds ultimately landed the second seed with a 25-3-1-1 mark. 

The marquee match-up of the preliminary round will take place on Friday morning when the third-seeded Thompson Blazers run into Fraser Valley. The Blazers finished the regular season with a 20-9-1-0 record. The two teams ended up separated by 11 points. Thompson battled the T-Birds tough all season earning a 1-2-1-0 mark in their four game season series. Noah Carignan from Fraser Valley led all scorers in the season series with 10 points (2g-8a) while Casey Minnabarriet’s eight points (1g-7a) was the top tallier for Thompson.
