For Immediate Release
February 18, 2026
Saanichton, B.C. - The BCEHL’s 2025-26 regular season is officially in its final week, and there is a lot left to be determined in the U17 and U18 leagues. The final game in the U17 league’s 2025-26 season goes tonight and it will determine the positioning of the top three seeds for the playoffs. That is the literal definition of coming down to the wire!
Female U18 AAA
The Female U18 league’s playoff positioning is already set going into this weekend. With a pair of wins this weekend, the third-place Thompson-Okanagan Lakers (18-11-1-0=37 points) will catch the second-place Fraser Valley Rush (20-11-0-1=41 points) in both points and wins, but they will be unable to leapfrog them in the standings. The Rush hold the third tiebreaker (after points and total wins) for playoff positioning, which is head-to-head record. The Rush have claimed the second overall seed as they earned a 5-3-0-0 record versus the Lakers this season.
As the teams prep for the playoffs, the league’s top team in the regular season, the Greater Vancouver Comets (24-5-0-1=49 points), will jump on the ferry to meet the fifth-place Vancouver Island Seals (3-27-0-0=6 points) in a pair of games this weekend. The Thompson-Okanagan Lakers will travel up Highway 97 to meet the fourth-place Northern Capitals (11-17-1-1=24 points) for two games in Prince George.

U18 AAA
The U18 standings are crazy close as we move into the final weekend of the 2025-26 regular season with a full slate of games ahead of us. The top five spots in the standings are up for grabs this weekend. The first-place Vancouver North East Chiefs (25-5-0-2=52 points) hold their destiny in their own hands. If the Chiefs can earn two points from their two games versus the Vancouver North West Hawks and the Thompson Blazers they will take home the crown as the top regular season team and the number one overall seed in the playoffs. The second place Okanagan Rockets (24-7-1-0=49 points) will try to play spoiler. They will look to win both games (Fraser Valley Thunderbirds & Vancouver North West Hawks) this weekend in their quest for top spot, and then hope that the Chiefs stumble in their match-ups.
The third-place Cariboo Cougars (17-12-2-1=37 points) are in control of their fate as they travel to the Lower Mainland this weekend. The Cougars need to earn a single point from their match-ups against the sixth-place Valley West Giants (9-16-5-2=25 points) on Saturday and a Sunday morning tilt versus the eighth-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (7-21-3-1=18 points).
The battle for fourth-place will also be decided between the Blazers (16-15-0-1) and the Hawks (14-12-4-1) who both currently have 33 points. The Blazers will do battle with the Chiefs and Giants, while the Hawks meet the Chiefs and Rockets.

U17 AAA
The last game of the U17 season occurs tonight, and the outcome will impact the top of the standings. The tied for first-place Vancouver North West Hawks (23-8-4-0=50 points) will meet the seventh-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (14-18-2-1=31 points) in Abbotsford. The Hawks are currently tied with the Vancouver North East Chiefs (24-10-2-0=50 points) for top spot in the standings, but the Chiefs hold the tiebreaker (total wins), so they'll need at least one point in tonight's game to secure the regular season title. On paper this match-up may look like a forgone conclusion, but not so fast. Last weekend, the Chiefs needed a win over the T-Birds to grab top spot, but Fraser Valley had other ideas as they toppled the Chiefs 3-2 in overtime. The Hawks hold a 3-0-0-0 record in the season series versus Fraser Valley, but two of the games were decided by one goal and the other game by two goals. The winning goal was scored by the Hawks in the third period of each of the games.

There is one lone game remaining in the U15 league this weekend. The fourth-place Vancouver North East Chiefs (15-11-2-1=33 points) head to Delta for a Saturday evening match-up with the eighth-place Greater Vancouver Canadians (2-25-1-1=6 points). This outcome of this game cannot affect the overall standings in the U15 league.
