BCEHL WEEKEND UPDATE - JANUARY 9-11

Saanichton, B.C. - The new year is here, which means hockey is back across the BCEHL! The focus shifts to the Female U18 league as multiple teams will have the chance to take first place this weekend, while the U17 league could see some major shakeups in their standings. Let's take a further look at what's ahead.

Female U18 AAA

With just a single point separating the first and third place teams, the top of the Female U18 league continues to heat up into 2026. The third-place Fraser Valley Rush (13-9-0) look to climb into first place as they get set to face the fourth-place Northern Capitals (8-11-1) for a two-game series. The second-place Greater Vancouver Comets (13-4-0) will also aim to take top spot when they travel to take on the fifth-place Vancouver Island Seals (2-15-0).

Northern Capitals @ Fraser Valley Rush - 1:30 p.m. - Langley Twin Rinks

Greater Vancouver Comets @ Vancouver Island Seals - 4:00 p.m. - Strathcona Gardens

Sunday's Female U18 Games:

Northern Capitals @ Fraser Valley Rush - 9:30 a.m. - Langley Twin Rinks

U18 AAA

It's shaping up to be a big weekend for teams at the top of the U18 league. The league leading Okanagan Rockets (16-3-1) will need to be at their best to maintain their lead in the standings when they battle the fourth-place Thompson Blazers (11-10-1). Meanwhile the second-place Vancouver North East Chiefs (15-4-1), just one win shy of tying the Rockets in points, will face the fifth-place Vancouver North West Hawks (10-11-3) in a Saturday showdown.

Vancouver North East Chiefs @ Vancouver North West Hawks - 6:00 p.m. - Canlan Ice Sports North Shore

U17 AAA

The U17 standings continues to be tightly contested, as only four points separate second from fifth. The fifth-place Vancouver North East Chiefs (14-9-1) will need a strong performance as they aim to climb into the top three against the third-place Thompson Blazers (14-9-3), who sit two points ahead. Elsewhere, the second-place Cariboo Cougars (16-8-1) will take on the seventh-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (11-11-2), as the Cougars will look to bridge the gap at the top of the standings.

There are three matchups in the U15 league this weekend, with a tight race at the top of the standings. The first-place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds (18-2-0) will look to maintain their lead at the top of the standings when they take on the sixth-place Vancouver North West Hawks (4-11-4). Meanwhile, the second-place Okanagan Rockets (17-1-0) will aim to keep their momentum rolling into the new year in a matchup against the fifth-place Cariboo Cougars (11-9-0).
