NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR 2026 FRED HESLOP MINOR HOCKEY AWARDS

Saanichton, B.C. – BC Hockey is excited to announce that nominations are open for the 2026 Fred Heslop Minor Hockey Awards! These awards recognize outstanding hockey volunteers in B.C. and Yukon as a part of National Volunteer Week.
Nominate someone who:
- Goes above and beyond to make a positive impact within their hockey community
- Has attained or is working towards significant achievements
- Makes a positive impact and improves programs within a local association
- Acts as an outstanding example for other volunteers
Help us celebrate these amazing volunteers who help our hockey world provide incredible experiences for our participants in B.C. and Yukon. Please remember to include a few photos with your nomination.
In total, five (5) awards will be presented during National Volunteer Week April 19-25, 2026. Nominations close on March 18, 2026.

The Fred Heslop Minor Hockey Awards are named after the late Fred Heslop whose involvement with BC Hockey spanned two decades, serving the membership on the Executive Committee (now Board of Directors) from 1992-2006. The Trail, B.C. native served in many roles including Officer at Large, Vice President, President, and was chair of numerous committees. In 2007, BC Hockey awarded him the highest honour when he was presented with the Diamond Stick Award. Fred passed away in 2013, leaving a proud legacy.
National Volunteer Week pays tribute to the millions of volunteers who share their time and talents with community organizations across the country. The week of celebration is a wonderful way to shine the spotlight on volunteers who share their time to make their community a better place.
