VOLUNTEER LIAISON OPPORTUNITY
Volunteer Position: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) Liaison
Introduction:
This role is a key addition to BC Hockey’s ongoing commitment to supporting its members through fostering an inclusive and welcoming hockey culture. The ED&I Liaison is a volunteer position that comes with an honorarium, which reflects the organization’s appreciation for the time and expertise contributed to the role. The ED&I Liaison will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of BC Hockey. This position is an annual appointment.
Placement Requirements:
• Deep understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion frameworks.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Persons Check.
• Strong knowledge of hockey programming at both the local and provincial levels.
Responsibilities:
Support Members and Volunteers:
• Act as a resource for BC Hockey members and program volunteers by providing guidance on ED&I-related questions.
• Support our organizational commitment to an inclusive culture that is welcoming and supportive of diversity.
• Act as a consultant to underrepresented groups within BC Hockey membership, ensuring all voices are heard and valued.
Educational Leadership:
• Develop and facilitate training seminars on:
• BC Hockey policies.
• Cultural safety and best practices.
• Recruitment initiatives focusing on diversity, accessibility, and inclusion.
Policy and Communication Guidance:
• Provide feedback to ensure communications and policies use non-discriminatory and inclusive language.
Reporting and Recommendations:
• Deliver reports and recommendations as required.
Event and Meeting Participation:
• Attend and facilitate meetings or events as needed.
