STEP 1: Contact the Referee-in-Chief of your local Minor Hockey Association
STEP 2: All NEW officials MUST complete the HCOP Intro to Officiating online module. Once Hockey University is complete (including the post-module survey), any official that will be 18 years or older as of December 31 of the current calendar year MUST complete ‘Step 3’ by submitting for a Criminal Record Check.
STEP 3: Any official without a valid Criminal Record Check (CRC) that is 18 years of age or older as of December 31 of the current calendar year must complete a CRC. A valid CRC is required prior to registering for the current season. Please see the video below regarding access to your e-hockey account to check the status of your most recent CRC. CRCs are valid for three (3) seasons.
STEP 4: With all applicable aspects of steps 1 & 2 fulfilled, officials may proceed to registering for a certification clinic. All officials will attend an in-person clinic for the 2023-24 season.
Clinics for all NEW officials will be available in-person at the local level. Please contact your Minor Hockey Association's Referee-in-Chief for officiating opportunities in your community.
Note: All returning officials that do not require a Criminal Record Check (CRC) (17 years or younger as of December 31st of the current calendar year) or officials with a currently valid CRC can proceed directly to the Step 4.
